Im working on new suspension and the lower mounting bolts in the rear are really tight so I was thinking about renting an impact wrench. Anyone know where I can rent one? or have any other ideas on how to get these bolts out

jack the car up and try again. use a box wrench instead of a rachet. Take the pipe and hammer it on one end making it oval so it will fit over the wrench
theres no need for an impact gun
it is 17mm and it shouldnt really be that tight. try unbolting the upper mounts and, with the body of the car supported by jackstands, swing the rear axle down.
screw wd40.
go get pb blaster.
night and day difference in removing rusted/stuck hardware.
you can put the jack stands under the rear of the subframe, like under the steering rack where it bolts up to the bottom of the car.
dont need a braker bar, just use a hammer to hit the wrench, and make sure you've taken the top parts off first so the rear beam comes down, make sure you have a jack there to catch it so it wont just drop down(wont hurt anything just not fun) and you should be able to get the bolts off. and make sure to use some elbow grease.
whatttt? ok start with the basics. (dont take this as insulting it happens alot)
righty tighty, left lossey.
PB blaster.
Torque is the cross product of r X F. maximum torue at 90 degrees.
