I've got a 98 GLX with some rot around the fuel filler. I actually was filling up and poked my finger into the fender well. Pretty much all around. It's funked. How is it fixed. I'm a decent welder and a pretty decent wrench. Pulling the tank is a given. What do I do about the metal? Is there a factory replacement repair panel for this? Trying to form it from flat sheet metal seems tedious to me. Hopefully there is something I can do because other than that and a tiny bit of bubbles above the windshield this car is solid. Thanks for any help you can give. It's my wifes car and she wants to trade it in now! After all, it is rusting out! http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

Re: (thepoloplaya)

I thought about the TT door thing. I bet it probably would be easier than cutting/welding a factory one in there but I just don't like the look on this car. Maybe if it was a little more modded. Its basically stock except for bilstien coilovers and neuspeed sways. So cutting a factory one from a junk car is the only option? I didn't know if you could buy that part as a repair panel like you can buy cab corners or bedsides for trucks. It seems to be a common rust spot for these cars. I figure someone must have a solution for it.

Do like I did and mooch it off a fellow 'tex-er from down south where cars live forever!!! I'm still waiting for my friend to bring it back here for me on his next trip back to Canada... I'll post a pictorial in my Panzer build thread http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
