2 days ago this little yellow warning kept coming up. Since yesterday it is permanent on my dash. According to the manual it is a engine/exhorst warning light. The light itself looks like a engine looking at it sideways. The manual says take it imediately to the service dealer.

That is for me 150km away at Bundberg. Makes it hard when you working. Also I am not sure if the car gets me there or if something will go wrong even worse. Tried to search through the threads here but could not find anything for TDI, tried watercooled that has nothing at all. Rang VW, useless, their have no idea at all. Told me to ring vw assist, told by them to take the car to nearest dealer, which I told her, Bundy is closest, so she told me, that I have to take it there,

, just said so didn't I, is it still under warranty she asked me, told its a 2006 Polo TDI, so she said it might be under warranty,

. I told her then, ok I take it to Bundy, can't do till next week as I work, my car is still under warranty, and if it dies in the meantime VW assist will tow it to Bundy, and you take on the responsibility? OK, so I told her to ring them in Bundy,by the way who are not very trustable at all.

Anyway anyone has any idea, is the car ok to drive? It does drive but it feels not right, It feels as if it misses. And its so annoying having that light right in the face so to speak.

sounds like something's wrong with the exhaust system.. most likely the EGR valve... Go get it fixed within the warranty... because it costs around 1K to replace the unit.
If it is the EGR valve, the car would not drive any differently, but will use a little more fuel... might just be a tad weaker as well... but not really noticeable.

If VW assist have told you to drive it, VW have accepted responsibility for any further damage that may happen. Get them to fax you something however telling you to drive it the 150km to Bundy dealer, then you'll be covered

Re: My Polo has a problem (camiraus)

Thanks for your replies. Can't get the car in till next Tuesday.
But today the car has more warnings lights on and I am now more than worried.
ABS warning light is also on and an other one that looks like a steering wheel. its also yellow. And another warning light saying esp. I didn't think I have esp, I don't have a on or of switch for it.

What should I do now. Last night on the way home from work it sounded as if it backfired, and then stuttered, and it felt like it is losing power. But after a km it started coming good. Then this moring it wasn;t running to bad, not like it used to. Then coming home all of a sudden this other warning lights came up. Well its lookes like early christmas on my dash. Any ideas anyone.

Usually they say... if it running ok then come in when you've made the appointment. If it starts to run rough etc them call immediately for a earlier appointment or a tow. What did they say to you?
Can people use their commonsense?

Re: My Polo has a problem (pologti18t)

All I got is if it stops we got to tow it. Can't say anything else till I get there. Its 150km along the Bruce Highway thats why I am worried. Its not like going across town. In between in some areas the mobile wont work, and we only got Childers in between. Dont like to break down somewhere in the wild. But while its driving no tow.

youre very unimaginative. start pulling fuses out and put them in a nice little plastic bag in the glovebox for the mechs to find and then call assist cos the car wont go.
