When my O2 sensor blew out, i had the car go through a diagnostic at Brown's VW in Richmond, Va. The first time showed nothing and the next time revealed that the O2 sensor was indeed fried, but they also neglected to mention that the MAF was and had been blown out as well leaving that bit to be mentioned later when i received the free O2 recall work...(im convinced that they only told me what i was asking about and nothing else as a ploy to get more money)
Now my question follows this short summary. I took the car in to have the Serpentine Belt fixed and when i got it back, i noticed that the check engine light was no longer illuminated. I knew for a fact that it should be as i did not yet receive the new O2 sensor. Also, the car could not travel 15mi without burning more than 1/2 a tank of gas and the acceleration was so bad that it was clearly dangerous for me to drive. I had my gf follow me back to the dealership those 30mi going 40mph in a 65mph the entire way. I (pissed off beyond) and asked what was going on and stated that none of this was happening to me before i brought it in to get this belt replaced and not only was the car acting far worse than it ever had, but the CEL was off. I was told that the car reset the CEL light on its own and all VW's do this from time to time. Even if the reason that caused the light to turn on is still existing.
In the years i have owned my VW, this resetting has only occured when i brought the car to the dealer to have it looked at, but i am an open-minded person and i want to know if it's possible or was i in fact fed a line of schitt?
If you ever find yourself at Brown's VW in Richmond, Va, avoid the sales rep. Chris Minney for he is a liar on all acounts and also avoid the GM as he has no real care about anything you are going through at his dealership.
