Re: air filter (AngryScientist)

Don't bother, you won't see any gains and it's been proven many times that the K&N does NOT filter as well as the OEM paper.
German OE Paper filters are very good, go with Mann/Mahle or the like from an online supplier or just get it from a dealer.

thats interesting, yea i want really looking for any gains over stock as far as hp goes, i was just hoping for a good washable filter that will last the life of the car, but if those dont actually filter as well, i guess they are to be avoided.
i also love the fact that there seem to be a few of us who are on the east coast and up early to read and reply to these posts, thanks.

I've tried it on 2 of my cars, never been impressed. I don't care to go through the hassle of cleaning and re-oiling it either. OE filters are so cheap, you can get 5 of them in a pack and it's about the same as 1 K&N and that'll last at least 100K miles. Good enough for me. And like I said before, K&N does not filter as well, I don't want all that crap in my engine.
