Late night lowering! 85 Callaway GTI and 86 GTI. (Lots of pics)

So me and my friend Ryan (FliGLI91) decided to lower our cars after work. Since its freezing out and the wearhouse happen to be open it was the perfect time and place to do so.
Mine is the 1986 Alpine White GTI and his is the Black Callaway Turbo GTI.
We both just recently purchased these cars so ignore the dirt, body tape, and body damage. He is going to be doing alot of work to his, but mine wont get much since its my daily driver/fun car.
He is using H&R race springs on his GTI and I used Eibach sportline springs on mine.

(BTW the Callaway valve cover isnt on the car because it was cracked when he bought it and leaked and is going to get it repaired.)

Mine is done but he had some issues so it took a little longer

And while I was waiting I installed my dubspeed Big Bore intake

And laid my wiper down flat

And now Ryan is done

Nice work. That Callaway is pretty cool although that hood scoop just looks off to me...

It factory (Well from Callaway) Set to sit directly on top of the intercooler.
I like it. I always liked those hoodscoops on MK2's.

Yeah I know. I just like how it looks on Zonker (Zonker had one right?) and Twinscrew20v's car, but I can't find any pics right now.

Yeah Zonker had one I believe right in the middle of the hood because of the intake manifold/intercooler set up on it.

Yeah you gotta love em.
I like them cause they dont need inspections, dont get emissions, and get historic tags. And they are about as close to a rabbit you can get without actually buying a rabbit.
I have always been a fan of 85-87 8v GTI's. Just took awhile for me to get one.

Ive had two black 85 GTI'S and one white 85 GTI over the years. I love the early interiors and trim. Were upto 88 now in MD for Historic tags so I got one more year till my 89 gets Historic plates

Haven't gotten it dyno'ed....it prob has like 300 to the wheels though haha

. No it's bone stock with i think the stage3 on it and i have just been trying to get it running good and lower to the ground. Ill be moving to florida soon and i have to drive it 15 hours

. I really dont know what numbers he is putting down. He has the stage 3 one so its the higher horsepower one.

Yeah i have never seen the specs but im sure the mk1 or scirocco guys know. Good pic of the rim i need too. I have seen it in the rare parts thread but if anyone has the bbs ra that is 7 inches wide with the rounded lip lets talk. I only have 3
