Hey guys...I have 2 mk4 vw's and am just starting to research/get interested in the older air-cooled bugs. I am trying to figure out the different types of old bugs...as it turns out there are apparently more than one kind. A few I have seen on you-tube were labeled "kafer" bug...what is this?

Käfer is the German word for "beetle".

yup, just another nickname for the Beetle. "Beetle" itself is a nickname as well as VW never officially called it a Beetle. There's only very few limited editions that had the name "Beetle" on the decklid, no other times did VW used the word "Beetle" as the model name
