Dropped my Cabby off yesterday for it's ABA transplant. Hope to get it back end of the day tomorrow or Saturday AM. For those of you who keep asking what it costs, here is the breakdown of costs for my swap job.

Supply and install ABA shortblock, new rings. Ported hydro head with mild cam, rebuilt. Audi Turbo manifold ported to match, Neuspeed TB. All other ancillaries stripped off old motor for reuse. All specialty conversion pieces (distributor, block-off plate, belts, etc.) included. $1500Cdn.
TT downpipe, dual out let manifold (ported it myself). $220Cdn
Supply and install new 210mm clutch kit, lightened and balanced flywheel, diesel motormounts, tune-up kit, filters, fluids. $500Cdn
New exhaust, 2" pipe, resonator and muffler $280.
With the exception of the exhaust, all of the above is going on now. I can't wait

Re: ABA Transplant in process; cost breakdown. (4thScirocco)

That seems too good to be true. Let me get this straight. you gave them your rabbit and there going to supply and install a aba short block with new rings and a ported head. On top of that you said something about a audi turbo manifold ported and there installing this all for 1500 total!!! Thats insane man tell me if that is the real case. I have spent tons rebuilding my engine and stuff and it would amount to like7-900 dollars. And no porting be done over here. That a goooood deal yo.
hit me back with the word.

Re: ABA Transplant in process; cost breakdown. (purplerabbit)

Ok, I gotta 'splain that the ported head and manifold came from my 4th Scirocco. When I lost my senses and went for a MkIV GTI GLX, I sold the car to to my buddy who's shop I get my work done at. They sold it to some kid who totalled it and bought the wreck back. So in a round about way I'm re-acquiring my primo parts. The head, manifold and Neuspeed TB was bought as a matched set and cost me $1200Cdn when I originally bought it. I paid another $500 to have it rebuilt and installed in my Scirocco.
The ABA is supplied, assembled with head, intake and exhaust and installed. When I pick it up, it will be running with all the other things I mentioned earlier. Then it's off to a couple of Vietnamese guys I know at a muffler shop. This is supposed to happen Saturday. Got my fingers crossed, but really I think more like tues/wed next week.

$280 is what I'm budgeting for a custom job. I figure I can get away with spending about $200, maybe more if I wanna get a better muffler.
Apollo Muffler on Kingsway near Nanaimo.
I really don't know, I've had these guys rig me up before with a 2" system for ~$150 with me supplying the muffler and resonator. That time I simply brought them 2 cherry bomb resonators I got at Mopac for $29.99ea. It ended up being stoopid facking loud
