Hey! welcome to the bay! i live in martinez, and work in walnut creek, so if you see a nugget yellow corrado (g60) rolling around, thats me! here, not often is it the "R32" group, or the "corrado group" or the "mkII" group, we all represent together in the vw familly! we have the monday night meets infront of kohl's and theres the monthly meet at tomas sports tuning in richmond...... anyway, once again, welcome! you will love it here. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Hey! I'm movin to the Bay Area too! But for me its the first time. Maybe y'all can tell me if I am in a sales gig (driving all day) in the City and Silicon Valley how bad my clutch will get with those hills? I've managed 140K in Atlanta but those hills out there! Lookin forward to being there though!

eh, only worried cause I'm at 140K on the stock clutch on my GTI. but if things work out there may be an S4 or R32 when I get there. by the way - if I live South Bay but work and Pallo & the City, where's a good spot to live? sorry if I jacked the thread>>>

That really depends on your budget and what you are planning to do (RENT or BUY), but I can give you a very general idea of the surrounding area.
S/E San Jose, Milpitas, and Fremont area are cheap places to live, but don't have the nicest neighborhoods (don't worry though, I don't think there is one neighborhood in the south bay that you have to worry about at all). Menlo Park, Mt. View, Cupertino, Palo Alto (but not E Palo Alto) are all nice places to live which are more pricey, but are in a great location for commuting to SF.
The more I write here, the more I find it hard to think of places, even though I have lived here my whole life. Not that I don't know the area, but because there are just so many options. Maybe we can help you out a little better if you give us a couple more details.
Wherever you go, good luck, welcome to the bay, and we'll see you on the road!

I wouldn't worry. I got 170K on my Corrado. I did the chain so the clutch was done then. I drive in the city all the time. If you know how to drive it is not a problem.

everyone moving from somewhere else worries SO much about the hills. they are not a big deal if you know how to drive. don't worry about it.
