In regards to cracked windshields. Most the time your insurance company will pay for it to get fixed without you paying a deductible because it's considered safety equipment because it's part of the support structure of the roof. They would rather pay 250 for a windshield then 100k for medical bills.

I'm rockin' a 18" crack in my windshield myself along with several pits from Texas hail. I was going to get it fixed months ago, but the car was still doing cross-****ry runs. Now that she's mostly stationary, I'll get it taken care of.
