Society of Automotive Engineers at the U of A put on a "show". I missed at least half the vehicles, but the ones I saw made me feel like I didn't miss much: Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

How many of you have seen a 959 engine bay in person?

The owners were REAL cool. I even got a ride in the 356. There's a show next Saturday at Tucson Country Club, Tanque Verde/Kolb. The 959 owner said that'd be a better time to go for a ride.

And most regrettably: There was a 550 spyder on a trailer that I crossed paths with on the way home tonight. No lighting, no pics. Something is afoot in the Porsche community around here.

Re: Nice day in Tucson (VR6 NRG)

It was deliberately put all the way up so as to call attention to it as something different. As it was leaving, he put it down, and said as he drives it goes down more.

Horrible pic, but down ~2-3" from where it was.

that 959 has to have the worst suspension setup on a Porsche i have ever seen. talk about wheel gap holy crap.

Come on Brian, you must know why Porsche built the 959'S......

I almost suspected you would have.

It was interesting to think: 400+ hp, AWD, 6sp, Twin turbo, air suspension, in 1987. The thing was roughly 2 decades ahead of its time.

dave was that a real 356 or was it fiberglass?

REAL. Very tastefully done body mods, widened steelies made from the center of a flipped dually wheel. Somebody with big schnarglies to mod a nice car like that and drive it ~60,000 miles over the last x years. The guy said that it's all reversible, so it could go back to a concourse winner 356. But I like it just the way it is. It sounded nice, drove nicely, and looked awesome.

Re: Nice day in Tucson (J.the W.)

i had a customer last week that wanted to trade a 356 Cabriolet on an Audi R8. the 356 was a full Porsche rebuild and documented car. we got a trade number of $130k. but the dude found an R8 in Florida where he lived.
he sent me pics of the porsche and it was
