Found these in my oil pump pick-up:

They look like they may be remants from my two pistons that cracked lands awhile back, but just wanted to see if anyone has a better idea.

Ya...I'm hoping they have been there for awhile, but I am looking for a reson to my current problems.
I had a turbo rebuilt for blown seals. 40 miles after the reinstall, seals are gone again. My rebuilder says it looks like oil contamination ate the seals this time around. So, I'm looking for shavings. Found some in my filter when I cut it apart, a couple slivers in the pan, but these are just strange. They look like they are cast. I just found one of my old pistons, and I can't place this fragment on it anywhere, so, maybe crank...maybe block...

That looks like bronze... Maybe it's the photo.
They could be part of the u shaped clamps that hold down the cams but they are alloy...
Hope it works out OK.

did you find these pieces "IN" the oil pick up or outside on the screen part?...

put a magnet to them. if they are piston chunks then there should get pulled to it. i'd guess it's a part that is in oil all the time. aka part of the pump?

Ya, they look like cast iron...but it turns out they are not magnetic.

Ah...problem could be solved, making the title of this thread incorrect. A friend said they could be parts of a thrust bearing in a turbo, which would mean these are from the first turbo that catastrophically failed on me.
