Re: always use DSG (bcze1)

I use the shifter most of the time...that's my comfort zone. The paddles I use only once in a while. I leave it on auto very seldom. Sport is great for accelerating, but you don't want to use it in stop and start driving. The DSG works well...I especially like downshifting. I would prefer a manual, but the DSG is growing on me.

Re: (exquicorp)

OK, I thought someone would mention it by now, but have to clear this up. There is no dsg mode, dsg is the tranny. Period. Regardless of what shift mode you're in. The dsg tranny in the R gives 3 modes, D, S, and manual. I'm probably 40% D, 40% manual, 20% S. Simply depends on mood, traffic, road, etc.

It depends:
If wife or others are in the car or int stop and go traffic = in auto mode (D)
If I want to have fun = in sport mode
If I really want to have fun = paddles
best of all worlds = we can choose, and with a 6 speed manual, you're left foot leggin' the clutch whether you want to or not.

Sometime it's hard to use paddles when turning.

2x - I use paddles a lot, but a PITA in sharp turns.
Not likin' the S mode yet...it shifts whenever it wants, not when you want/need it. Maybe it's good on the track. I haven't given it a real chance.
D mode is for talking on the cell, shaving, sudoku, reading the manual...j/k! I actually hate these drivers. http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

Re: always use DSG (L'Hopi)

I'm in D or S more than 99% of the time, but I often override with the paddles. The DSG makes the right decision most of the time and I know it well enough that when it would make an error, I override it with the paddles temporarily.

I don't think anyone else caught that.

Thanks...some good stuff has been getting crickets around here. I'm finding that humor and sarcasm are a bit foreign to this forum.

Re: always use DSG (L'Hopi)

Shifter 90% (feels more natural to me)
Paddles 10%
I'll switch to D when anyone in my car starts complaining that they may throw up if I continue driving like I do in M.

Only use S to speed up quickly, but mostly on curvy backroads

The early days of the MK IV R32 forum were just the opposite.
It was full of jokers.

But now everyone is so serious and grumpy over there.
