Well, as you can tell from the sig, i'm an MK2 guy, but i am willing to get my hands dirty, so dont flame me too much.
Anyhow, i was walking through a junkyard today and i saw an old Jetta 1 i believe. what made me stop and take a good look were the rear seats. they look almost exactly like the corrado rear seats with the headrests part of the seat itself. now i was curious if all jetta rears were like this? If so, does anyone know how wide these are? i'd be interested into trying to swap these into my MK2 jetta.
thanks for your help, its extremely appreciated!

awsome thanks! if in fact its wide enough and tall enough, then i have to go hunting for a rear seat! only thing i'll probably have to do though is dye all my seats so that everything matches. hey, at least after alot of work everything will start to look better.

Don't mention it.

I just thought I could give you a rough idea as to whether or not the Jetta 1 seat is right for you. I know how things at the wreckers can sometimes get scooped out from under you, if you aren't quick about it.

either they get scooped out from under you or not at all

. there's a yard around here that has a 1990 8V GTI which the guy is unwilling to part out. its got rear-end damage and he'll only sell it as a whole, so i cant get the GTI seats. he wants 2k for it. I didnt realize 8V GTIs were worth that much even damaged!!!! Thats worth more than my car is!!! Oh, and the car still has teardrops on it.

its not worth it, my 1992 GTi cost me 1100

oh tell me about it. i'm just mad cuz the schmuck wont ever sell the car as a whole for that price (or even near that) and he refuses to let it get parted out. I could really really really use those seats.

I ran into the same situation this summer. There is a 77 Rocco at a wreckers near me an the guy won't part it out or sell it as whole. I needed the steering wheel out of it and the dumbass told me, without the wheel the steering column would be useless
Image
I think he's useless.
He made a deal that I could get it out if I replaced it with a different wheel so I took a junk wheel and threw it on. You can bet he'll never get my business again!

Re: Jetta Rear seats? pics please (rabbitmania)

junkyards in the states seem so much easier to deal with. almost all of them are u-pull type deals and they dont seem to hassle you much about part cost. ever since i've moved to canada its been nothing but problems and the only decent place is cambridge auto wreckers. Any other canucks noticed this problem?
to top everything off, MK3s were common back home in the states. now i cant find one for the life of me at a junkyard.

I have yet to see a Mk3 in the wreckers. What's up with that?
As far as the Mk1--->Mk2 seat qustion, I know the front seats will fit just fine, but it sounds like you might have a bit of a gap with the rear.
It might not be too bad with the seat centered though. I'm not sure if they mount the same or not either.

Re: Jetta Rear seats? pics please (rabbitmania)

theres an Mk3 golf over at the cambridge place (first one i've seen around here), but down closer to toronto and hamilton there are tons of mk3 golf/jettas. i went to one place and saw at least 10 Mk3s, not including the ones that they completely cut up and put on those huge shelves.
I was kinda expecting a gap, but its alot less than i thought. at first i was going to do a corrado rear seat swap, but when i saw the rear headrest design, i got me thinking if paying that extra cash for the raddo setup is even worth it. I'm still thinking about it and the MK1 seats look like theyd fit alot better in the rear than Corrado's would. The only thing i'd be missing from the Mk1 rear seat setup is the bucket seat look.
Thank again for all your help guys, i'll keep you informed if i go with an mk1 rear setup and tell you all how it works.

What will those vent windows fit on to?

Re: Jetta Rear seats? pics please (racinrocco)

I haven't seen any MKIII's in the jy either? hmph. Aparently the rule of thumb is that the cars appear in the yard (as opposed to the shelves) on their 10th birthday.
As for the Jetta seats - very cool - I've seen those in the junkyard
