I was just thinking about how much time and money I've sunk in to 15 year old car with 250,000+ miles, then I was thinking of all the things I want and need to do body work inc complete respray, head gasket, shocks and springs,
tires wheels, strurt tower bar, cams , exhaust, motor mount blah.........it all builds charcter, somehow.

Re: Roccos build character... (Giovanni)

I have nothing but love for my three Mk 1 cars. Even when they've broken down (which is VERY rare), it never really bothered me.
All my Pantera buddies think I'm insane for being so devoted to such a 'lowly' car, but I'm here to tell you, it's just as much fun (albeit in a different way) as my other cars. And interestingly, on more than one occasion it has actually proven FASTER than a Pantera! Put us on a tight, twisty, bumpy road, and I'll blow the doors off most Panteras.
They will argue that not only are Panteras more difficult to drive in twisty conditions, but also the relative $$$ difference means they have to be far more cautious, and I'll grant them that. But I have more than once waved the Scirocco flag proudly, waiting at the top of a wonderful twisty hillclimb (along with a well-driven 300ZX twin-turbo) for half-dozen slowpoke Panteras to catch up.
