Went to the scrap yard and put my car on the scale.
84 MkII w/ AEB w/ SR and rear wiper
No PS, A/C mostly deleted
No back seats
No spare
No radio, but searching for one.
Low on gas, but not in the red.
= 2035 (925kg)
Lightweight battery and voila 2000lbs.

That good for a mk2. Weighed my mk1 last week, AEB/AJL engine and 02A tranny, 8 point roll cage, 3/4 tank of fuel. 880 kgs.

2,280 lbs. with a full tank of gas
Would love for it to be an even 2,000 lbs. but not needed yet

Forgot to mention I have Euro bumpers and am rolling on some old 15in BBSs, can't remember their nomenclature.

They're the ones that came on the MKII Jetta 16Vs that supposedly bend easily.
Goal is w/ me in the car to weigh 1000kg (2200lbs) and put down 220 to the wheels.

Something for you to shoot for...
My Mk1 has been lightened...no spare/ jack/ etc, no rear seat/package shelf, rear belts, front and rear bumpers, pass seat out.
Most of the rubber floor sound deadening out (except firewall). Some smaller stuff too.
1675 lbs. with gas in the tank!

That's pretty good. My old MKI GTi I had down to 17xx, but I was on heavy teardrops and umm still had door beams, glass, etc.

and a bunch of braces: ft upper and lower, rear etc.

Shipping weight of an earlier (78) Mk1 is 1888 lbs.
That's not curb weight.
this is the base weght of a car.
I've removed close to 300 lbs.
