I want to help her out and install the new battery for her. Is replacing a battery as simple as it seems? You just take off the negative, take off positive. Take out battery and then put on negative then positive and thats it?

I like to double check on things before I do them. I've learned in the past that you cant trust everything you find on google. No need to be an ass about it.

Ok, it turns out that it's her alternator and not her battery. How easy is that to do?
Ok we all didn't just bust out of the womb knowing how to build a car from scratch. I'm learning as I go along.
[Edit: Also how standardized are alternators? Are the chances of good of me going to autozone and picking one up for her Jeep Cherokee?
