I want to help her out and install the new battery for her. Is replacing a battery as simple as it seems? You just take off the negative, take off positive. Take out battery and then put on negative then positive and thats it?

If you don't know how to change a battery I would guess you wouldn't want to attempt the alternator. Stick with things like washer fluid and gas. edit: And how did you come to the conclusion that it was the alternator? |

An alternator for a Cherokee will be pretty easy to find, although the ones for newer Cherokees are kind of expensive ($130 or so). |

As far as the alternator she had one of her friends go and give the car a jump and it still wouldn't start. |

Wouldn't the car start with a jump if it was just the battery? |
