thanks guys for the info, cause i was, looking a a caby a while back n remebered it had an airbag but wasn't to sure about the scirocco cause it was made 10 years before, does any one know what form or site i could go to to retro fit one

Whoa. Sensors, computer, wiring....testing...TESTING!!
I wouldn't get into this if I were you. The DOT mandated passive restriant systems around 89. I'm pretty sure this is one of many reasons VW dropped the Scirocco when it did.

INDEED! I HATE airbags. None of my cars have em. One of the many nuisances of the newer model cars.

Yeah - you don't want a 20 year old airbag, wiring, computers and sensors in your car.
It's like having an antique gun aimed at your head while you are driving and going over bumps. It could go off in your face at any time!! (or it won't go off in an accident)

Additionally installing un-tested airbags is dangerous to your health.
In my former life as an Automotive engineer, I've supervised removal of the airbag pyro's and pyro seat belt tensioners from many vehicles.
The airbags and the tensioners can blow without warning due to static electricity.
We took one out into the parking lot...put it into a 55 gallon drum and blew it....to say the least the drum went 20 feet into the air and came down completely split open.
If you don't know what your doing (even if you THINK you do)...don't!)

i know old airbags are dangerous we blow them up all the time at school, the thing is my parents wont let me have a car without airbags while i still live at home, but i think i'll buy the car anyway then tell them

Do you mean active restraints? I'm confused - I thought a seatbelt was considered passive.
And yeah, I wear my seatbelt and don't worry about not having an airbag. Don't sit too close to the wheel

No a seatbelt is *active* as in you have to put it on.
Well - most of them.
Passive seatbelts were those nasty motorized ones that slapped you in the face or the ones that were attached to the door frame and you slid into the car under them.
THey along with air bags will work regardless of user imput (unlike if you choose not to wear a seatbelt)
