So you would rather have them fill that space in the back hatch area with a false floor have the seats fold "flat" with the false floor, than have that space available? Because thats all other brands do make a false floor so it appears the back seats fold flat with the floor.

But that flatness makes it so much easier to pound those cakes.

Its a stupid car in general

Why would that be? Its roomier and rides nicer than most "sub-compacts". By nicer I do not mean handles better, but nicer and more plush than a fit, versa, etc. Something that the older crowd might like.

Not all.
Volvo 245: Seat fold flat. Under the rear area, there were additional storage compartments underneath, if you wanted to store small items hidden from view. Or a third seat option.

Toyota Prius: Seats fold flat. Under the rear area are the hybrid batteries and the 12V battery.

No, the bottom cushion of the other cars flips forward on sort of a cantilever into the footwell. Then the backrest folds down where the cushion is.

HHRs do that, and I don't have a problem with it. it's a great place to put jumper cables and other stuff you need, but don't want in the way.

My Magnum has the false floor in the trunk, so it does have a flat floor with the seats down. The problem is, it robs 4-5" of trunk height, which everyone complaines about in the Magnum: the sloping roofline cuts into cargo space.
I removed the false floor, and enjoy the extra room. It makes a big difference.
