Saw the new Aveo5...

Started to see a few of the new Aveo5s around the roads...
They don't look as horrendous as in the photos, I think its because we have front plates here which go below the bumper, and take away some of the gaping mouth look of the front grille...
I can't find a pic with a North American plate to show it, but this kinda gives you an idea...

I'm more interested in the new Ecotec engine and how much of a FE increase it gave the car...

I've seen a few in the flesh and they look entirely decent.

Completely new engine and interior, and a moderately restyled interior is about what qualifies for a major refresh these days...

They look pretty nice for a tiny car, but looks can be deceiving. They are pretty horrible in almost every other way.

I just was on fueleconomy.gov and with the new engine the Aveo actually meets the Honda Fit...
Thats pretty good IMO the biggest problem with the old one was that it was rated something stupid like 23mpg city

.

I have a friend who has a really nice one, body kit, wheels and overall clean appearance. They're really not bad driving cars. I don't know why there's so much hate for them on this forum.

The old engine was a Daewoo DTEC engine, which was derived from an earlier ancestor of the current Ecotecs. The new 1.6 Ecotec is entirely competent. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
My only gripe with the body design is this little fakey side vent just ahead of the mirror. The presence of the vent itself doesn't bother me, but it seems like they could have integrated the ECE side marker light into this vent rather than letting it hang on the fender. It looks sloppy.
