Cripes....the moderator is scaring me.....

Love the color....you should see the sucka at sunset when the 50% pearl pops out!
GREY IS BACK!
send $5.00 to me.....I'll release you from the trademark...LOL

Re: Nimbus or Aviator grey? (sciroccohal)

Another thing...chameleon paint was 'popular' (yuck!) a few years ago.
Well I do like paint that 'changes colors'. All three of my cars and the truck have 'flip-flop paint'.
Aviator grey is one of them. It's different in strong sun, shade, clouds, sunset etc....but it never shows up in a digital camera pic.
It also has one other terrific attribute...STEALTH! People ask me what color it is...normally I say I went down to Luke Air Force Base and got some F-16 paint!....LOL

Re: Nimbus or Aviator grey? (Mstadt)

Nimbus is wayyyyy dark.....evil battleship grey...coool color but really bad for AZ. Gets dirty very easily. http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

I keep lowering it....and the ground keeps moving further away!....
It is lowered 1.675"....as low as is good engieering sense (IMHO)...remember this car can be driven cross-country in any condition, in any weather, on virtually any terrain...Landshark ain't no 'poseur' car. It's built to be used EVERYDAY, and it is.

Re: Nimbus or Aviator grey? (Mstadt)

Aviator grey has appx 40-50% metallic in it.
20% is silver
20% is gold.
The flakes are tiny and embedded....it doesn't look like metallic.
Until sunset! TINY, invisible, magnifying glass only visible flakes.

Re: Nimbus or Aviator grey? (BoiseMK1GTI)

Look to the 40's-50's...honestly. Plymouth had a non-metallic medium grey.
So did Porsche on the 356. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Nimbus or Aviator grey? (Chris16vRocco)

That can't be Hal. Hal's 9 feet tall, with fists like chopping blocks, carries an axe, rides a blue ox...oh wait
Sweet color, though.

Ive used pre67 to find most of my colors before. I may swing for a blue instead. Who knows. Great color you have there though. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Nimbus or Aviator grey? (Mstadt)

Thanks...the flakes are OUTSIDE the car...but some disagree!

"...And he likes to press wild flowerrrrs..." (roommate kept sing'n that the whole time we were building the back deck.)
I like that grey, mostly, but I'm understanding about the camera not capturing it correctly.
How about a picture, close up, during the 'Golden Hour', or a paint swatch?

TBerk
trying to come up with a way to paint a car without anywhere to paint it at....
