Need a free or cheap alternator for a 2000 VW VR6 in Brooklyn, NY?

So i drove up from NC to visit my GF in Brooklyn @ Pratt, and my alt took a crap on me now im stranded here . Ive got $100 to my name and that was supposed to be for fuel, so Im in a huge pinch:thumbdown. Does anyone in the Brooklyn area have a good alt for a 00 VR6 , that they will let go for free -> cheap, and possibly help me install it as i have no tools here. nope, shesa full time student, and only works 4hrs a week at the computer lab on campus ...i already tried ;P
