I recently purchased a 2000 VR6 Jetta, and I'm starting to notice little things that I need to fix. Every time I go to get gas, The pump shuts off when I try to set it to where it will fill up. Basically, it's acting like I have a full tank, no matter how much gas is in the car. I have gone to various gas stations, and the issue remains. I'd like to think it's user error, or the gas stations fault, but I think I've ruled out both of those options. What could be causing this? The pumps are shut off by excess gas vapor, correct? Do I have some sort of leak, causing the vapor to leak up in there to shut off the pump? I'm at a loss..thanks in advance.
I've also noticed that I'm getting roughly 200 miles to a tank (~80% city driving)..is that about right? It seems low to me.
