Re: Anyone drive without power steering? Any cars out there still without? (BRealistic)

When I was in high school, the PS pump seized up in my '86 Trooper, so I cut the belt and drove it around for a week or so until I could scrape together the $100 or whatever it was for a new one.
Well, apparently the new pump had a little more pressure than the 11-year-old rack was used to -- yep, it blew all the seals right out of it. I got to enjoy power steering for a whole day. That was the straw that broke the camel's back, so I manhandled it around for a few months until I could afford something else.

Re: FV-QR (monoaural)

As an interesting note, if you own a VW MKV or Audi A3, you can tune the amount of power steering assistance you want in VAG-COM if you prefer a heavier or lighter feel.

Re: FV-QR (monoaural)

my miata racer has the original power steering rack unhooked. It is a bit difficult at low speeds but I much prefer the feel. I had the power steering leak all the fluid out once on my 1970 442 but I did not like the feel of that.

My buddy's Toyota Echo back in...2003...? Had non power steering. Didn't make much of a difference, unless mentioned...at low speed. U-Turns were a b_tch even in that tiny car. However, actual driving was fine.
