I'm trying to figure out how to fit an intercooler in front of the rad at the moment. I've thought about relocating the battery, so I could fit some piping on that side, but it looks as if even with sliding the rad over some, a piece of 2.5" pipe would still not fit there.

Anyone have pics of any setups?

Thanks.

a friend of mine is running an SRT-4 FMIC, and it comes out perfectly on each side of the radiator...i think he had to slide the rad over a little tho...

Any pics of that set up?

Yes, pics of the srt4 IC would be highly appreciated. I've often wondered if one of those would fit.

Also, thanks for the pic of the aba-t setup...is that an ebay IC? Or is it something else with a custom end tank?

Hmmm, I just did a little research, and a bolt on aftermarket ebay SRT4 IC is 32.5" long...IIRC, that's about perfect length to fit between the headlights. I would think the stock IC would be the same width.

I'll go out to the car and do some measuring, soon. So far, I'm pretty excited about the srt4 intercooler fitting in front of the radiator. It seems like it'd be an alright IC overall...core looks very similar to the typical ebay intercooler, and I like the end tanks a lot more than an ebay IC plus 2 90* elbows.

Some crappy pics. Battery is relocated to the back and the rad was moved back onto some pins with skateboard bushings on the front frame brace.
Funny, my friend and I have been using bushings off of Indy's for a while now, the pivot point bushing between the hanger and baseplate plug some holes pretty good. I also have a box of spacers that go between the bearings that are worth there weight in gold. Been cruising to the spot in Mk1 for a long time.

Air/Water and a motorcycle battery...the system uses a 12x12 heat exchanger in front of the radiator, and a vr6 secondary H2O pump.
no need to go in to the rad support.

I am faced with the decision picking up an srt4 ic cheaply on ebay right now (cheaper than normal for some reason), or buying gas next week. I'm leaning towards gas.

The srt intercooler looks like a pretty good unit...looks a lot more serious business than most stock intercoolers, with the metal end tanks.

Looks like the srt IC would be a good fit...depending on where one measures, there's about 32-34" of space, and as I mentioned, according to dimensions of an aftermarket IC, it's 32.5" wide. I wonder what size the inlet/outlet is?

and they're dirt cheap, because 99% of the kids that buy those cars upgrade the I/C. You can usually find throwaways at the dealer.

I might try to post up an ad on craigslist offering $25 or something...one of the local srt people told me they normally go for $50-$100...I don't want to pay that much for a used stock intercooler.
