So blah blah blah all you guys saying that I'm always blowing gearboxes.

Here's all I know!
Current plan is to change fluid at every 2nd oil-change (6,000-7,000mi) and only romp on it when it's over 4200RPM... which is a good idea anyway, hehe. That's what the DSG's do... and same with climbingcue's buddy.

Click it anyway it appears. It's his oil analysis.

Yeah I'm not sure why it won't work for you guys but it must be inferior computer systems not like the lovely Macintosh.

10K trans fluid changes is one thing but romping on it only over 4200RPM
Whats the fun in that

Not worth it man. If thats the requirement then turn the boost down till you have full use of the RPM band.

It's actually awesome -- you just always downshift... then you're over 4200RPM
Image

otherwise you're just loading up boost at like 3100 and it's lame. 4200 = bombin' then you upshift straight past 4200 in the next gear so you keep going.
So in other words, always downshift THEN throttle. Just cruising around you can bomb at <4200RPM but I never use too much boost... it's always full boost or no boost for my driving except when I'm taking certain turns on the track/street.

Smash, just curious, what other maintenance items do you have to up their service intervals with this much power? plugs, haldex, diff fluid etc. I think i remember seeing at some point HPA requires the MAF and other parts to be replaced at certain intervals as well.

Oil-changes every 3,000mi. (and clean the MAF)
Every other oil-change you should do a Haldex Fluid & Filter.
Every third oil-change you should do a new MAF.
... I personally just keep a spare-MAF in the trunk (and the security torx-bit to remove just the sensor from the housing) for two reasons...
a) the car stalls when the MAF goes, so you just unplug it and drive gently to a safe area to swap it. I've done it in the breakdown-lane of a busy highway before.
b) You never know when these things actually burn-out until they're unusable by the ECU.
I used to use the crappy A8 MAF in my car, which was expensive since it was only sold as a complete housing and was also remanufactured (crappy). These would fail VERY often.
NOW, I use the sensor from the 2007/2008 Audi RS4... which is sold without the housing for about $150/each and is not remanufactured. This seems like a much better solution and the car runs better as-well. I keep a spare in the trunk of this now.

is this OEM fluid or something else?

I think it was something other than OEM that HPA used, but they told us to use OEM in it this time. So I'll take a sample in 5K and see what the difference is.
