Report - New Audi A8 Will Be Available With Four-Cylinder Turbo
http://www.motorauthority.com/....html

The current Audi A8 has been on sale since 2003 and since that time has only received a minor facelift to keep it fresh alongside the Mercedes Benz S-Class, Lexus LS and recently revealed BMW 7-series. The minor styling changes implemented during the recent facelift will have to soldier on for at least another year as the next-generation ‘D4’ A8, according to latest reports, is expected to arrive in the second half of next year as a 2011 model. The reports also claim a new entry-level model fitted with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine will be offered for the first time.

That better be one helluva 4cyl - the A8 isn't exactly a lightweight.

Isn't the current one offered with a V6 in other markets? I don't see why a turbo'd four with similar output would be out of the ordinary.

Audi's latest 2.0T makes a lot more power and torque than V6's they've offered in past A8's. I don't think it will be an issue.

Hell they make more than the smaller of the two V8s offered when the A8 first showed up over here.

i seriously hope adopting Lexus-like styling is not just part of their plan to poop on Toyota.
that aside, i can't imagine what kind of 4-banger it would take to sufficiently haul around a fully modern D-class car.

I HIGHLY doubt this will come to the US market. They have FWD V6 A8s over in Europe.

The new trend is frugality and green. Just like celebrities driving their Prius to their private jet, a 4 cylinder A8 would appeal to hypocritical do-gooder types who don't want their consumption to seem too conspicuous.
In other words, it wouldn't shock me to see this car come here, especially if gas prices keep creeping up.

Yes, they should keep that over there. They're used to A8s and S-Classes with 2.0L diesels and steelies.

Keep making proper engines dammit! 4-cyl turbo belongs in the Golf and TT, not the A8

A couple pounds of that pork is the bigger engine.
