wait, so are regular gas souls being sold already?
I saw one driving around a couple weeks ago in Denver.

There were three U.S. spec 2010 Souls at the dealer... two fancier models with automatics and one base model with manual.

Re: (VWestlife)

They wouldn't let me up on the stand top get a better look at the diesel Soul. At the time- I didn't realize there were any differences other than the language/market stuff and the diesel drivetrain.

See, unlike the stupid VW lick commercials, that on the handle would make me say "no thanks".

I think we can all safely say that duck sperm is a dealbreaker.

The "sound mood lights" are amusing but I can see why Kia left them out of the U.S. model.

If they are leaving them out of the US models, then they should have also left them out of the US commercials. http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

Wow- JC Whintey had those 20 years ago!
Oops, I shouldn't know that...

The Diesel is for display purposes only until dealers get their US allotment. Soul Diesels are not for sale, and aren't coming in the future either.
Some Korean-spec features are also not coming, but the sound and light system is an option on the US spec cars.

Last time I checked the Kia website and designed the soul, the mood lights were listed.

Maybe it was a running change since the stickers on the KDM Souls were printed.
BTW, the new facelifted Kia Optima looks rather nice in person. But for the same price I'd rather have the Hyundai Sonata, with more features and better availability of a manual transmission.

The 09 Optima even has a decent interior. But it is definitely lacking in headroom. Maybe Hyundai is intentionally making the Optima less appealing that the Sonata?

my dealership has a fully loaded optima with manual sitting on our lot right now. its pretty sweet.

Define "fully loaded." Yes, the Optima LX manual has power windows/locks/mirrors, A/C, and a pretty good MP3 stereo, but it is not available with a sunroof, cruise control, keyless entry, upgraded Infinity stereo, fog lights, or ABS. But if you buy an automatic, you get most of these features as standard equipment, or as options.
Of course, at $17k for a manual Optima, you can't beat the price for the size of the car -- you're getting a mid-sized sedan for the price of a compact -- but you also sacrifice a lot of features and frills compared to even what an $18k manual Sonata GLS comes with.
