I found an 04' Blue GLI in Austin....
After talking with the seller he agreed to drop it off a Hewlett VW and have them look at for me. Prognoses came back Great car, just needs scheduled maintenance. So, i went up to Austin a few hrs ago and just returned with this.... 87k miles $10k price

As an added bonus the car even came with
- K&N Cold Air Intake
- Forge 007 DV, with all springs and plates
- Center Column Boost gauge
- AND ITS ****ING CHIPPED!!!!!! I was hitting 16psi spikes and holding 13-14psi
The only 'flaws' are
- Headlights badly faded
- needs left front lower grill trim
- small dents on roof

wow the price is relatively high for the mileage...but anyways...GLI is still a GLI...
just loose those wings and would look good....and of course lower the car...hehe

im not 100% sure on what im gona do with the wing, its accually an OEM VW wing.... odd i know, but it was installed at the Dealer before the car was sold originally.
as for lower, yes, that will be my first step after, T-Belt, Wpump, VCG, Cam Seals, Adjuster gasket.....
and the price, well the cheepest here in Houston was like 12k at least but i was an Auto

Re: New GLI - Round #2 (VWTechHouston)

Congrats on the new LB GLI.. i was following your old thread about the previous one
anyway, i dont think itsa bad deal for $10K. IMO just needs alittle TLC anda good cleaning
let me help you out with a few things you might wana be aware of with this car:
* you may wana ask the previous owner if the t-belt/water pump was ever done before. if not, get it done promptly
* get to those general service issues before they become problems; coils, MAF, fluids, filters & etc
* try to find out what company chip/software is in the car, just in case you have a problem & 16psi spike really isnt alot
* plenty of DIY and classified threads on vortex to get the parts and advice on those flaws you mentioned
G/L with it http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif and after all you are a VW Tech, you should be up for the challange

ps: from your engine bay picture, looks like you have a short shifter in there too, nice !

Allrdy ordered a Kit from ECS for the belt, and pump. Gona pick up Gaskets and new plugs and get all that work done next Saturday.
As for who chipped it any idea how i can find out?

good stuff, ecstuning has basically everything you need at pretty good prices
off hand, i dont know how you would go about finding out what chip/flash the car has.. have you asked the previous owner?
most current chips/software usually spike around 20-21psi and hold somewhere in the low teens. im not completely certain but the OEM-ECU setting should spike about 8-12psi depending on engine code; AWW, AWD, AWP. [1.8T AWP is the most aggressive/plus we have the K03s in the 337/20th/GLI rather than the traditional K03 turbo] thus, it could be one of several things or a combination of these;
* the turbo might be showing its age with 87K on it and not boosting as hard anymore. check the shaft play to be certain.
* check the system for possible leaks, maybe pressure check to make sure you dont have a loose or torn hose someplace.
* or it could simply be that the chip/software used wasnt aggressive in the first place. i believe that Neuspeed's software only spiked around 16psi. not sure if their still around or doing ECU programs anymore.
worst case scenario erase the flash at work & go with something more aggressive in manner

looks clean...personally i love that wing (it's one of my guility pleasures as far as things that aren't "vortex approved")...you don't see to many GLI's with it...idc if people say its ricey...make it work (imo)...http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
