i've looked through a lot of headliner threads and saw differing opinions on wheather or not to remove the original fabric and foam off the headliner before covering with new fabric... what is your take on it?

Depends totally on what glue you use. Currently I'm using a professional upholstery glue called Alphabond AF178. It'll stick anything. If I wanted a specific glue for pourous surfaces like foam or fabric I'd use the other glue I have called Alpha L107. This could be used to stick fabric straight to the existing head liner. They can be found here: http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/c-304-adhesive.aspx Spray glues don't cut it. Trust me, I've tried almost all of them. When spray glue is tugged on it'll let go. When you use Alpha glue, and try and tug the cloth off it'll rip one of the surfaces before the glue will let go. |
