Alot of BMW and Honda people do it. I guess you don't hear much of it around here cause the only VW that had 9006 is the B4 Passat, and they just swap to E-codes for better lighting.

A3 GTIs and some Cabrios (w/the quad beams) had them too.

Alright, this is new to me.....what about a conversion for 9004 ('97 jetta, non e-code) to this 9005? would this be better?

Won't work, 9004s are a double filament bulb, 9005s are only a single. Plus the bases are totally different between 9004's and 9005's, whereas 9006's and 9005's are very simalar.
