the highest hp eng with 02a was 178 hp slc rado, but the tranny would handle much more, and I don't see why people don't think this 02s would handle more than this 180~hp mark. the tranny should be able to reliabably handle much more than that, as did the 02a, 02b (eurovan 5sdp FWD 02a based), 02c ( awd 02a based used in golf rallye and synchro b3 and other synchro vw's, 02d (eurovan 5spd AWD 02a design based), 02j( mk3 b4 tdI and mk4 02a based only real difference is bolt in cv flanges), 02m trannies the weak link in ALL of them beingthe factory differential.
keep in mind, the 02s ma use different part #'s but that doesn't mean stuff is actually different internally.

I was only able to find this on the euro part of the etka. the codes wouldn't come up when I selected the usa portion

As in my earlier post, I don't think any US-delivered vehicles had this gearbox. And I doubt they ever will, as we would be more likely to get the new 7-speed dry-clutch DSG in the engines of lower torque for which the 02S would be appropriate.
My searches have found the following info, but I have not confirmed all of it:
The 02S gearboxes are found in some Tourans, Mk4 Golf/Jetta/Passat, 2004-up Audi A3, 2004-up Caddy, SEAT Leon, (and possibly EOS?). But only on engines up to 250 Nm/184 lb-ft of torque, i.e. 150hp 2.0 FSI, 95-105hp 1.9 TDI.
The 02S is also known as MQ250-6F -- the "250" probably refers to its torque rating (in Nm), although that is not true with all VAG gearboxes. It also sometimes is incorrectly referred to as an 0A4, which is a 5-speed. (That's 0A4 -- not 04A, as one would expect.)
Mainshafts and layshafts carry 02S p/n's. Some gears have 02S p/n's, some are 0A4, and a few are 02A.
The 02A/02J CWP/final drives will not interchange with 02S.
The crown wheel/ring gear apparently can be re-drilled to accept the 02J Quaife.
The clutch housing of code FYG has a different p/n than does that of the GQN/GQL.
The transmission case p/n (for at least some 'boxes) changed on 23-05-2004.

ok did parts looking all the gears 1-5 are either 02a or 02j part # and the sme with the 1-5 synchro's and 1st2nd, and th e 3rd 4th slider hub.

Hello,
I`ve also searched for the part numbers.
Because I want to use 3rd and 4rd gear from a 02s on a 02a inputshaft.
But I noticed that 3rd gear that`s on the inputshafts starts with 0a4 and not with 02a as the rest of the gears do.
Is there someone who knows out of experience if 3rd gear from 02s fits on a 02a inputshaft?

I've looked into doing a 02s 3rd 4th swap into an 02a and from what i can surmise 3rd would fit the 02a shaft but I couldn't be 100% sure. Worth the gamble I'd say.
Anyone know if QPeng produced the speedo work around as mentioned in the magazine article or a know of a supplier for the rear diff mount adapter plate?

whats the deal with running a speedo then???
qpeng can run mk4 clocks.. maybe run mk4 clocks?
these gearboxs dont have a speedo. the speedo comes from abs sensors.

I am using the 02s GQN in my variant 1.8t. the 02A/02J shifter/cabels works just fine with the 02S box. but i swaped the hole thing in the 02J housings insted of the 02S housing, because there is no hole for the Speed sensor and some holes are missing for the mount on the diff housing

The ratio of the GQN fits perfectly for my car on 195/40-16 tyres, the calculated speed in top gear til arund 186mph @ 7500. but ive only made 171 mph ny a gps on the german autobahn

What hole things? The gears?
02S = 02J gearbox + 1 extra gear onto the stack.

I really need to update this thread but I have simply had no time at all. I have 6 02S gearboxes here that I have been collecting from various platforms (1.8 TSI , 1.4 FSI . 1.9 TDI , 1.8 20V , etc).
You CAN put an 02C & 02A bell housing onto the 02S gear portion. This isnt really shocking news to say the least. if you have any questions let me know and ill do my best to answer them.
