Not sure if I left anything out but there are some of my favourites http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

GREAT idea.. I love me some food. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Guelph
Atmosphere on Carden St - beautiful place with exposed stone walls, very reasonable prices and excellent food.
With the Grain Bakery on London - an old farmhouse with incredible food, dine-in or take-out. my favourites are the salad with miso dressing, cheesecake squares and whatever the soup of the day is.
Ben Thanh on Woodlawn - such a reasonably priced place with tons of options... viet/thai menu. there are many of these around but i find guelph to be among the best in the chain, the one in Waterloo on Northfield is also good.. Cambridge is not.
Ella's Bistro on Speedvale - only open for lunch during the week but they make one great schnitzel and borscht if that's your thing (definitely not for everyone)
Toronto
Mr. Greek on the Danforth - what can you say, the original and none of the franchises compare.
San Francescos on Coxwell - I'm salivating just mentioning it... hot veal is my favourite.
Ghazale on Bloor (at Bathurst) - great middle eastern takeout and cheap. http://www.ghazale.ca/
Hamilton
Montfort on Upper James - I've been to several locations and these guys are my favourite. I love the baba ganoush, mixed grill and tabouleh salad.
Shehnai - Awesome indian... http://www.shehnairestaurant.com/
Queen's Subs - turkey breast is awesome, actual pieces of turkey rather than deli slices.. i forget what street, it's near Hess.

Those are just a few... I'm sure I will think of more!

Messini's - Danforth/Pape. Greek food that's good and cheap. They don't cheap out on the feta and onions either. Fast service.

Tried this little cozy place on the Danforth great service, great prices, fresh tasting greek food. Gotta try the greek fries next time http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: (christanand)

The best shawarma I've had so far is from a place near Dufferin and Orfus rd, across from the dollarama, in the plaza. So tasty that you'll want another one, not to mention their hot sauce is freakin awesome!

Also at Lake Shore Blvd W at Brown's Line and in Port Credit. I was pretty damn happy when one opened near enough to work in Etobicoke

Great thread!
As for the Niagara Region:
St. Catharines: Mai Vi - great Vietnamese food at reasonable prices, my fav is the crispy chicken with spicy peanut sauce
Spicy Thai - doesn't look like much from the outside and doesn't have a lot of seating but the food is great, cashew chicken or pad thai gets my vote.
Merchant Ale House - awesome brew pub in downtown with surprisingly good fare, old time hockey ale or drunken monkey oatmeal stout are my favs on tap

Re: (the sherminator's 8v)

Sababa's : 390 Steeles Avenue West between Bathurst and Yonge... best lentil soup I've had anywhere!
Jack Astor's: The one on Dixon near the airport... I don't usually recommend chain restaurants but their chicken fingers are great! fresh not frozen breaded chicken breast with fries...

WEGZ: Rutherford & Jane area east of Jane? one of the biggest bars in the GTA well north of anyway... great place to watch sporting events and you gotta try their roast beef sandwich... small but dang tasty... smothered in gravy!

Anyone know where you can get "bunny chow" in Toronto? A friend told me about it and it sounds pretty damn delicious.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunny_chow
"Bunny chow is a slang term for a South African fast food consisting of a hollowed out loaf of bread filled with curry.
Bunny chows are commonly filled with curries made using traditional recipes from Durban: mutton or lamb, chicken and bean curries are popular fillings now, although the original bunny chow was vegetarian. Bunny chows are often served with a side portion of grated carrot, chilli and onion salad, commonly known as sambals. A key characteristic of a bunny chow is created when gravy from the curry fillings soak into the walls of the bread, thereby rounding the dish off with the fusion of flavours & textures."
