Not surprised really. I knew one day, especially the way I drive, it was going to give out. Lasted 3 years though. It had a good life.

Sachs sucks. Especially with the three-atom-thick spring plate straps they use to hold the thing together. |

I must also add that clutchnet is one of the only companies that has put forth real world r&d on our clutches. Straps is beefy. |

well i have the stock sachs clutch in my car with almost 140k on it, i drive it hard everyday never slips im going to back up the sachs vr clutch i know nothing about sachs 16v clutch and never have really bothered to look at them so i will just take your word. but because one of their products sucks doesnt mean the company itself is bad. |

16v plate won't even bolt up to a vr, so its a moot point. VR clutch: 228mm ABA clutch: 210mm 16v clutch: 210mm (different spline size than 020) This is why 16v pp bolts up to an aba, but you have to use an 8v clutch disc. |

Undriveability? Do you have the dexterity of an elderly person? I have no problems getting the car moving in 1-3rd gear by just feathering the clutch, no need for gas input. And a stock VR clutch is pretty soft-grabbing. I'll admit it kind of sucks in super heavy (IE 5pm Boston) traffic, but even then, it's not impossible. |
