Well, after two weeks of lurking, I feel like we're back from our wedding and honeymoon and are now mostly caught up.
Mostly, mind you.
Anyway, I thought I'd share some photos of the wedding and such.
As many of you know, we got married in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Mostly because the people up there are very relaxed and chilled out. That was the vibe we were going for. Thankfully, it all worked out.
We sent save the dates based on a little-known cartoon character from the late 50s by a guy named Schuyler Fairfield. The character was "Looey the Lobster.
Well, randomly, Erin and her Mom ran into him at his print shop in Wiscasset, Maine when we were up there. We got another sample of his work as a present from Erin's Mom.
Erin and Albert on the side porch of my parent's cabin:
We took a boat ride with Dan Dan the Lobster Man to show us how lobsters are caught.
Yeah, Erin was a little grossed out.
Lobster eggs!
The view from the front porch at the Topside Inn:
Erin's Dad and step-Mom enjoy the food.
Erin's Mom and Aunt Jerri along with her brothers and me.
My new brothers-in-law.
Pictures from the pre-wedding, "welcome to Maine" party.
Me and my Mom.
Me and Erin. Pay no attention to the beer spill.
The all-night crew!
The rehearsal dinner: lobster bake style!
Well, then we got married.
I don't have any of the ceremony as they are en route to us as we speak, but I do have some teasers courtesy of my photographer.
Our reception was in an old lodge in a summer community of cabins called Sprucewold.
It was awesome.
On the porch right before we left for Philly.
So, then we drove home, went to bed and got up and left for France the next day.
It was a whirlwind.
Arriving at the Chateau de Massillan in Uchaux, Provence, France.
Biking with Erin.
Vinyards everywhere...
Our room in the chateau.
Poolside. This is pretty much where we spent most of our days.
On a side trip to Sault and Gordes.
My Alfa was unavailable, so we got the Opel Corsa Turbodiesel. Not a bad ride for a GM product.
Breakfast at the chateau: little terra cotta yogurts.
I could start my day here every day for the rest of my life.
One of the sitting rooms. Nice selection of apertifs and digestifs. I've grown quite fond of pastis.
And what would the trip be without a little car drooling.
I actually liked this Peugeot 407 SW.
Erin is in love with the Fiat 500. Let's hope they bring it state side.
B-class Mercedes is a lot better than the R-class minivan we get in the states. But what else is new?
Aston Martin is always appreciated.
I also saw, but not get pictures of, a 2-door A3 Cabrio with a 1.9TDI. Beautiful car, owned by an older British gent. We had a nice conversations as he was leaving.
More pictures from the grounds of the Chateau.
This started to look like African savanna.
Olive trees everywhere.
From our patio.
On our way out...
Pieces of petrified trees in the courtyard.
edited some picture links
To be continued...
