Long story short. I punched the gas and BOOM! and then silence...the car rolled to a stop and wouldn't budge. A cop saw me and pushed the car two blocks to a side street. I went and bought a new axle and installed it on the side road in 20 min. started driving it home and couldn't go over 5mph. Wheel bearing was f-ed too! Bought a new bearing today installed everything and she is still F-ED up!!

Re: Another one bites the dust! (AEB A4)

I don't know...the thing that gets me is its only the pass. side. I've only replaced the driver's side once and that was only because I was replacing the pass. side and figured why not.
I think something inside the transmission is jacked on that side. I'm just scared to take it somewhere, I don't want to hear bad news...I'd have to flat bed it to a shop as well something else I don't want to do

I have NEVER seen anyone go through CVs like you, and you're not running crazy power, cause you're not even chipped!!!!
And, no offense meant at all, but you aren't that low! It doesn't even look like your CV or body have any marks from rubbing one another.

Re: FV-QR (99.5blacka4)

I'm maxed on my Konis I can't go any lower. Pass side has some threads but the driver's side has no threads left for some reason....
I don't know what it is...I'm pretty fing pissed though. I wanna sell it as is for 4 or 5k and buy another A4 or S4 (manual)....so much time and money put into this piece of poop and it gives me more and more headaches.

FV-QR

dude, there is definitely something wrong inside that transmission. this really sucks though, hopefully it can be repaired/youre able to find something nice and clean to replace it!

Re: FV-QR (sum1namedjames)

Called the dealer today. The flange that connects to the inner cv joint has a shaft on it, this shaft could be bent which would explain why I'm leaking tranny fluid from that area.
Flange = $306
Seal for the flange = $53
The guy also told me there are 5 different axles listed for the pass. side of an automatic FWD A4. He said the problem with Napa and Advance is that they have a "universal" type axle and don't take into consideration the length of the shaft that goes into the wheel hub...kind of crazy if you ask me but the d-hole wouldn't give me a part number for the 5 axles or give me dimensions on them. So if the axles I have been getting are to short then they would be stretch so tight to were they couldn't get a proper spin which would make the inner joint go out very quickly or just ride like a$$ from the start.
I also asked about auto trans and lowered cars. He said it shouldn't really matter if its auto or manual the manual cars actually have more direct power to them then the auto axle which would mean the autos are less likely to be breaking inner joints...I don't know I took in alot of information today and I'm learning a crap ton about the way a stupid axle works

Re: FV-QR (Taj Franz)

Its about the binding, not being low.. which is something a tech wont really know as most arent enthusiasts.

Re: FV-QR (99.5blacka4)

Bobby that would be great if you can get me some part numbers http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Brad I looked at the ECS axles they have a link to the EMPI site and it pretty much breaks down each year, make, and engine type with their part numbers for the axles. I don't know if its the same as the stock part number.
Tomorrow after work I'm gonna pull the flange I have to replace the seal regardless because its leaking fluid right there.
My Bentley manual is a huge help with this one http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
