I'm talking about the 8/9's. I've always thought Evo's were cool cars but never cared to own one really but now I have a chance to own a low mileage, super clean version for cheap but it's the RS and I don't find myself jumping on this at all. Maybe I just think some of the things it lacks is important, but I also like to feel a little luxurious in my cars. Manual Windows isn't a bad deal, but the whole no ABS thing kind of ruins it for me, I don't care that there is no lining in the trunk, and the sound deadening is removed, or even that there isn't a radio since one can be put inside for cheap, but am I foolish to not want to jump on this car? Do others feel the same as me?

The RS is the most awesome of all Evos. How much is it?

edit: just to clarify, yes you should jump on it.

Re: Is the EVO RS impractical to most people? (Beltfed)

Well considering this would be a DD, the whole no ABS thing worries me. I wouldn't say I'm being a "pussay" considering most people around me, let alone in general tend to stop short when they almost miss an exit on the highways. I don't tailgate but if it's raining or anything I feel like the higher up's wouldn't be as forgiving. Maybe I was spoiled with the 20TH, and STI having all the options with fun involved too, haha. I'm thinking the RS would be more of a track car to most people as well.

I daily a 91 miata without ABS. Sure its about as safe as riding a motorcycle but its about as fun as one too. If you are an experienced driver and feel as if you wont panic when you have to stop suddenly by all means go ahead. Thank god i haven't had any close calls. (knocks on wood)

I don't recall driving anything without ABS but I've driven plenty of "fun" cars and I don't panic or anything of that nature, I just feel like close calls would be even closer calls knowing I'm not being backed up by the automobile. Maybe it's something I'm over thinking and should go and drive the damn thing for a little before judging it more.

I wouldn't let the lack of ABS stop you from getting it. Its something to consider for sure, as the time you'll need it most (emergency stop) is the time when you're least likely to be thinking about threshold braking or pumping your brakes if you need, most people just stand on the pedal.
My Mustang is the first car I've had with ABS, and I can't say I've ever felt unsafe driving.

why dont you look for a GSR then ?
im just kidding when I call you a pussay, my daily is a gutted and caged s14 240sx.
the sparco evo seat aint helping much either.

The RS is the way to go. People managed to drive around for decades without ABS and survive, so I dont think its totally necessary.

It's not just the lack of ABS that make it a less-than-ideal daily driver.

if you live on or near a gravel road, try this experiment.
take a small can. fill it with the sand and pebbles from your local road. climb into a closet with the can. shake it next to your ear for 10 minutes.
now you know what it's like to ride in a car with no sound deadening.
if you can live with it. go for it. you won't find a raw-er driving experience than the brutality of an EVO...

IMO it would be a love/hate relationship. You'll love the power and handling but you'll hate the lackluster creature comfort. I'd rather drive a car with no ABS than no sound deadening.
