Re: FV-QR (mgyip)

Yeah I did see some steam and when i got to a construction roadblock and then I was like wtf and popped the hood to see what was going on and I turned off the car and then I was like will it turn back on and it just gave a little sign of life then the battery was drained....
so there was steam from a hole in the plastic that holds the top ac rad fan to the block.
I'll bring my other starter and my 75a booster pack and I'll give it a go, then take out the plugs.
You guys think my cylinders are full of prestone and what not? If so is it just the headgasket or what could it be?

It's hard to say if the cylinders are full of coolant - probably not since the car was so hot that the coolant should have been burning off in the combustion chambers.
I can't speak for how hot the engine may have gotten before it was shut off - even if it is "just a headgasket", I'd strongly suggest that you get the head measured to verify that it isn't warped. It's not something you can do easily at home unless you have a big, HEAVY straight edge lying around.

took out all the sparkplugs and cranked the engine, there's nothing that came out. Put a hose in the cylinder to see if there was anything on it, and there was nothing but a tiny bit of dark oil. The plugs are also full of oil. The engine cranks fine now but after 2-3 seconds it stops. Doesn't just slow down, it stops, and sometimes smokes. I think the engine just doesn't have enough power to start and burn all the oil in the cylinder so what should I do....

Re: (F3t1sh)

Also, while boosting the car I heard a loud electrical buzzing and when I put the key to on, the fuel pump primes and the Tach goes to 3500 rpm on it's own even before turning the key on to start it. Is this because of a short somewhere?

While cranking the engine with the plugs out nothing came pout and it stopped after 2-3 seconds?
The fuel pump is supposed to prime... where is the buzzing coming from? The ISV buzzes whenever the ignition is on but it shouldn't be loud.

Nothing came out and the cylinders when the plugs are out and the starter does that every time. And the loud thing came from like the radio.... And a similar short did happen which fu cked up my wipers and welded them shut. So I think I have a major short.
And the pump makes a buz but ill try taking it off to see if anything comes out.

Alright, fuel is being pumped and car turns over very well with no spark plugs. The only thing is that the cylinders are covered with a little layer of oil. When I clean the plugs and put them in and crank and take them out again, their covered in oil. After I clean them and put them back in, the first second of cranking, everything sounds normal then it starts to have some dificulties in turning over. So I think I have a gasket that's leaking somewhere near the plugs which makes oil seep into the cylinder covering the sparkplugs and inhibiting ignition. I'm thinking of ordering a head gasket set that has all the gaskets I'll need to rebuilt it. I have the option to get a used head for 100 dollars but I don't know it's current state.. What do you think

Re: (F3t1sh)

if i were u id get it towed to ur house and then swap in a used swap
itll be easy and cheap, less then 400 if anything
a swap with some new maintenence while its out for like 300, a lift to rent under 100
should take a a rookie a weekend.

I'd rather find the cause of this problem or the solution, it was a good, strong running engine and engines around here can be hard to find...
Everyone around here thinks the rev limiter is cool...

Re: FV-QR (F3t1sh)

you may just have bad valve seals, try putting a fresh set of plugs in your plugs may just be fouled and not getting good spark. The car should run w/ leakig valve seals it'll just burn oil on start up. Try the simple stuff before you start tearing everything apart. IOf that fails do a leak down test that'll tell you where the problem is.

Re: FV-QR (eightwaysanta)

But the thing is the sparkplugs work fine when I clean them and bring them close to the VC. So the plugs are working, All 4 of them... I think I'm gonna clean the injectors though.. Because shouldn't the gas be flying out of the sparkplug hole right? Also 1 out of 10 times I hear one cylinder firing... I'll clean the plug and the injectors and well go from there.

The starter should be able to spin the engine until the battery dies. It shouldn't stop after a few seconds. Start by cleaning the battery, alt wiring and grounds.
You have spark, fuel and air so it should start even with a weak starter. Did you try to turn the engine by hand yet?
