noticed on the highway today that whenever I'm on the accelerator there is a clicking like noise coming from the engine. it only happens when I'm in gear and accelerating. Thought I was low on trans fluid. filled it up, still clicking. I dont think it can be an exhaust leak cause it only happens when in gear and moving, accelerating, is it still possible?
thanks all

Re: new clicking noise (0dd_j0b)

are either of your outer cv boots ripped? an outer joint thats going bad will make clicking noises under load, just a thought. could be an exhaust leak too though. grab a rag and cover the tailpipe while you or someone else listens for a leak. HTH

Re: new clicking noise (8716vrocco)

^^^I'll try that. I'll check the boots closer tomorrow morning. I just searched for a leak or anything for about an hour. found a vacuum leak..and what sounded like a small exhaust leak. was pretty hard to tell. It's much harder to hear when I am revving the engine outside the car, but can be heard well while in the car, doors closed and such. I dont think its my CV boots, cause I can hear it when revving without moving now.

Re: new clicking noise (andykane)

well, it was the best of all the problems I suppose. with the engine cold I was able to stick my hand anywhere I wanted without burning myself. exhaust leaking from where the Manifold meets the downpipe...headers time
