I've been searching and couldn't find anything that would be the cause of my problem..
It's been happening ever since 2 weeks ago.. I'd be cruising on the highway at 65 and randomly the epc and traction lights would come on simultaniously. Also, I can't rev over 3500 and can't go over 65, guess it's referred to as "limp mode." They would stay on until I stop, turn the car off, and restart it after a minute. If I do it too soon only the esp goes off.. and I'd have to restart again to get them both gone. Then it's all fine and dandy, usually.
Now, up until yesterday I had a cel for an o2 sensor.. sensor 1 bank 1, and a bad cat. The epc/traction light happened while the cel was on.. once or twice while highway driving. Now, these lights haven't come on under 60 mph.
I picked the car up from the dealer yesterday. They had replaced the faulty cat, and the o2 sensor cel went away due to the cat being replaced. They had also replaced my bad wheel bearing, and I guess we had a recall on the brake light sensor.. so they did that free aswell. (I did this myself about 5 months ago) I had lights with mine only recently and with theirs.
So no more cel's, but during highway driving, 65 mph, the epc and traction came on again twice. restarted and they went away. There was a parked time between them and the engine had cooled off.
My rear pads are getting low, and will be changed very soon.. that has thrown no lights of brake faults, so I don't know if that would cause any problems.
Now, do you guys think I have an underlying problem with my epc system? Maybe a connector going bad, or just has bad contacts and the highway driving are shaking it enough to cause it to throw the lights and cause "limp mode"?

I have a V-Checker Scanner - Pro from ecstuning coming.. we'll see if it can dig anything up.
Thanks in advance guys.

Re: Another EPC // traction light problem (Daemon42)

I'll have to wait for my scanner then.. Cuz once I turn the car off the lights disappear.
Hopefully it'll get here this week. I had it scanned before and all I got was the 2 codes.. P0134 and P0430
Maybe it has something to do with the o2 sensor because vw said they replaced the cat and both went away.. maybe it hasn't surfaced again yet.

Re: (FancyGoLF)

this is random so apologies for this but trying to help ya out.........
Has your car had the brake light switch recall done? All MKIV R32's are covered under that recall. I don't remember having an EPC light when mine was failing but the ESP indicator on the dash wouldn't go away until the part was replaced by the dealer.
Also I know this sounds elementary, but check your fuses too....one might be blown and you don't even know it

Re: (Daemon42)

I feel if a fuse was blown the epc would be on constantly. Its only happened during the highway trips over 20 min. I can rev it to 5500 and drive under 40 all day without the lights activating.
Ill check fuses tonight. And yes, as stated, bls had the epc light come on with mine AND theirs, so that's ruled out.

Re: (DannyCVR6)

Well, my R is under half a foot of snow right now.. so nothing productive today.
I will be checking the wiring going to the tb for any damage, and will clean the tb whenever I can get a chance to rip my intake apart.
Any other ideas?

::EDIT::
I disconnected some connectors and check for corrosion or wire damage around the tb (not the whole harness) before going to work and snapped it back back together. Drove 60, pushing it to 70 on occasion, and cruised at 70 for 3 miles. No problems. Maybe there was just a bad seat on a connector, idk.
Danny wants to log the tb performance before and after cleaning to see if it helps at all. Crossing fingers.

Re: (FancyGoLF)

Seems as though one of the connectors must have unclipped and was vibrating enough to lose contact with the tb just enough to throw the light..
after inspecting the wiring and clicking them back in place.. no problems.
we'll see how long this lasts.

Re: Another EPC // traction light problem (FancyGoLF)

So, during an hour and a half drive.. An hour in my epc clicks on while driving 70 on the highway and the throttle completely died on me. I could brake and steer, but had to pull off to the breakdown lane because I had no throttle whatsoever. When I got parked it was idling m crap. I shut the car off, made sure all plugs were connected, and started it back up, no problems after that.
What the ish?
