I've been reading though a few threads on here

a Clarkson review

as well as a few others

But have yet to see one of these in person or on a lot. I've been thinking of holding onto the Freestyle for another year or so to see if any of these show up used or if Ford will be offering any nice incentives. I'd love to drive one but there aren't many Flexes on the local lots and no Ecoboost Flexes to be found.

My lady and I have been wanting to go out and test drive one, but we've come to the same problem as you, no one has any on the lots.

I hope Fords not holding them back. They need an abundance on their lots so I can pick one up at a good price down the road. I don't think I could get the wife to fork over $40k for a Ford

Re: FV-QR (01tj)

My wife and I had a non-boosted Flex for a rental car this past summer... really a nice vehicle (except for the tinny sounding doors when you close them).
It's too bad I won't buy a Ford ever again, because they have some nice vehicles in the lineup and the Flex is one of those.

How much have the doors changed from the Freestyle? Ours are like Vault doors, they are fairly heavy and very thick. Why won't you buy another Ford?

Re: FV-QR (01tj)

That color makes the Flex look awesome. Definitely one of the more iconic and interesting looking vehicles on the road right now.

I can't imagine very much. The service loaner I had a year ago had pretty solid sounding/heavy doors.

That happened to my sis-in-law also. She wasn't looking for the eco-boost model but couldnt even find but five at three different Ford dealers south subs Chicago. They were 4WD fully loaded SEL's.
She ended up getting an Edge. Nice vehicle also.

FV-QR

I guess I should clarify, but we're not looking at buying a new car for a while but we were just trying to find one to see what all of the hype was about with the new Flex's. We both love how they look, and how practical they can be, but wanted to test drive, and see one in person.
Like the rest of you, we're hoping that they're going to become more available in coming months, and the prices drop. $40k is a bit out of our price range at this point.

I want a brown one with a white roof.... fully loaded at 40k plus though is something i can't swallow either.
build quality seems nice... door close feel and interior feel. interior is nicely designed in my opinion.
never driven one though... only car show experience

What is the reason you won't buy a Ford ever again?

I had a 1998 Eddie Bauer-Expedition that had all kinds of problems... continually fixed under warranty. With only 60-miles left on the warranty the engine crapped out (5.4 V8) and the four additional replacement engines were also bad.
List of problems:
*engines (5 of them by the time Ford lost the lawsuit)
*repeated suspension problems (in the shop for the same problems every 2500 miles)
*transmission leaks (five of them - same problem each time)
*Engine coil burnouts --- from repeated coolant leaks in the same place)
I spent two years fighting with customer service/regional reps on the issue of getting my vehicle replaced and lemon'd out. Ford offered me $3,000 dollars to help with the purchase of a new Ford. At the time I needed $6,000 to make it work.
Ford fought it all the way to the point where I had to hire and attorney to sue Ford under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
When I told Ford that I planned to sue them their reponse to me was "if you think you have a case - go for it."
Flash forward --- not even two months after hiring an attorney, I was on the way to the courthouse for the trial when I got a call from my attorney saying Ford had settled.
Needless to say... it cost them MANY TIMES more than the 3-grand I needed -- -but the bigger issue was with how Ford treated me.
I had been a Ford guy since 1986... buying new vehicles every 19 to 24-months. So, when I had a problem with the most expensive Ford they sold at the time... I figured I would be treated a little bit better.
Ford couldn't have cared less about me as a customer, the problems with my vehicle or coming to a resolution without hiring attorneys. So, that spoke volumes to me and now I will not spend another dime with Ford Motor Company or any of their subsidiaries.
Contrast that with the AMAZING and SPECTACULAR treatment I have received from Volkswagen as a customer and I really can't imagine buying another vehicle. VW has been loyal to me as a customer and I will be loyal to them. Thank you VW for years of fun, support and great conversations.
Ford Motor Company ---- you can suck it!

Re: Anyone driven an Ecoboosted flex yet? (01tj)

Flex are pretty common sighting here in LA. I drove the Ecoboost version a few weeks ago at the LA Autoshow. I would describe the power as being "more than adequate"...

It's an outstanding vehicle with top notch interior quality and powertrain setup. Ideal family hauler for anyone otherwise looking to buy SUV or minivan.

Re: FV-QR (Turbiodiesel!)

I will only drive the Nelly edition.
