So today, I was driving home, I like to eat sunflower seeds in my car and I have a little cup with the shells in my cupholder. Now I admit, it was pretty dumb, but I took the cup that was half full and dumped it out the window. I was at a red light, fully stopped. I would have never thrown them out a moving car and hit other cars with it. I usually wait till I get home and throw out the cup, but some reason, the cup just looked getting filled up, so I just dumped it there. This is a very busy intersection where I dumped the shells, and several thousand cars pass through this road each day. Prob after a few hundred cars running over them, the shells would have been ground up. I told the officer that I was sorry, but did not think that the shells would be that bad of an effect. I know many of you will say that littering is littering and it is 100% my fault....but I think that if I contest the ticket, I may get let go on it...nature returning to nature.
Any input....

Honestly, I've always wondered about this. Like if I could get in trouble when I take the nasty white lettuce off of my Wendy's burger and huck it out the window.

Biodegradable, yes... but what if everyone dumped bio-waste wherever they pleased? We'd be standing in decaying garbage. Inherently harmless perhaps, but not quite civilized.
The ticket is purely for principals upheld by our society, not for what you littered. The fine would likely be inexpensive - I highly doubt it would be worth it to miss a days work fighting it in court.

Next time, make sure you dump it on your own floor and watch how long it takes for it to "bio-degrade".

What's the difference b/t what you did and throwing out a bag full of papers out the window? Paper is a biodegradable material, too. It's still littering. You got caught, now pay up.
