my vr6 turned into a lawn mower

I was driving home two days ago and everything was fine. All of a sudden i lost power and the car sounded like a lawnmower. when i floored the gas pedal there was no response no power. Ran the vag com on it got a p1544 code. Searched and seen it was a bad throttle body. Put a new throttle body on with the same result.
The only thing i can describe the sound as is a lawnmower or like it sounds when a muffler has a hole in it.
any help would be appreciated.

Ha ha ha I had that happen too. Mine spit a plug. I reinstalled it. It happened again different plug. Then I noticed they were ngks from the P.O. I threw some bosch in there. My car has been happy since. No japanese food for this stubborn euro.

NGK is the ONLY plug that lasted in my VR, Bosch was a waste of money.
Also, try checking your coilpack, mine had a similar issue when the pack was going bad, and it would get real sluggish and sound like a lawnmower..

try this unhook your battery for about 10 mins and hook it back up turn the key to ON position dont crank it let the the TB realign it self http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

ok i checked the spark plugs...they were fine and they were tight.
i unplugged the battery...left it for 10-20 mins. plugged it back in turned key to on. let it sit for 5 mins. same problem.
anyone know how to test a coil pack to see if that maybe the problem. i dont see any sparks but at this point im going to cover all bases.

Check your PCV valve first... If that brakes your car will sound like a subbie too...

i actually changed out my pcv valve when i put my abd big bore on. took the idea from 42dd's pcv valve fix
