I think its a solid gain as they are reporting an increase in market share. Again though, its not some huge 50-70% increase you would think would happen considering the hype here.
There is just as much, if not more, "hype" surrounding Ford these days. Do you see them posting 50-70% increases? No mainstream, high-volume automaker is posting those types of increases AFAIK. Porsche is a bit of a boutique automaker. It's easy to see those types of increases when your average monthly sales are so low.

Porsche for instance increased over 100% from last year. Now that is a bump.
Porsche doesn't sell the kinda volumes that Kia or Hyundai does though... them having a bump like that is huge, but it's sorta like a nickel stock gaining 100% in one day vs. someone like Amazon jumping 15% in a day (I'm exaggerating obviously, but...). Either way, Hyundai's 35% bump seems to be higher than most so far... but we'll have to wait 'till everyone's got their ducks out to really make a call.

What is also alarming is a lot of brands didn't increase May to June. A lot of brands decreased from May to June,:( showing that increases from last year sound GREAT but decreases month over month indicate people are still not buying cars like they used to.
I've seen industry analysts predicting anything from a 3-5 year recovery to a 10-indefinite year recovery to 2006-2007 levels.

In other words, it could take at least 10 years to see volumes like we had in '07, but come 10 years from now, something may have changed the landscape so drastically that we'll never see sales like that again.

I think that any automaker with long-term plans based on 2007-2008 (pre-crash) sales goals is high.

Edit Cougar please see below as well. :)

Well Ford was down May to June. ;) Porsche is the oddball example and maybe I should not have brought it up. Let me use another example. GM is saying the SRX is up over 400%. That is a huge lift for a new model and for a new car. Last month the Infiniti M was up 60%. That is not a substantial lift considering it is like the SRX, new car and better economic climate this year. Lexus stated the GX was up 111%. Well that is not impressive to me as like the SRX and M last June was an awful sales year and the GX was in its last model year (though the recall mess surely hurt it). Also the GX has a 14k sales goal so its meeting the target not exceeding it.

Mazda Sales Soar in June

IRVINE, Calif., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Making a big splash into summer, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported a sizzling 32.8 percent sales increase for June 2010, with 18,238 vehicles sold. Through the first half of the year, MNAO has sold 115,719 vehicles and is outpacing last year’s sales at this time by 15.3 percent, up 16.0 percent on a DSR basis (151 selling days thus far in 2010, compared to 152 in 2009).

Nearly every Mazda model posted substantial sales increases for June. The MAZDA6 mid-size sedan led the way with June sales up 84.2 percent (3,388 units sold). As fiscal uncertainty continues, the all-new, very affordable, 2010 MAZDA3 reported sales up 29.0 percent with 8,555 units sold. And as the summer heats up, so did MX-5 sales in June, with 638 units sold representing a 24.4 percent increase.

Mazda’s successful crossover SUVs, CX-7 and CX-9, both reported increased sales in June. CX-7 reported a June sales increase of 70.3 percent (2,107 units sold) and CX-9 reported its best June sales ever, with 2,115 units sold, up 34.9 percent.

Rounding out the North American market, Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) posted its best June sales ever with a 57 percent increase versus June 2009, with 1,859 units sold. This boosts MMdM’s year-to-date sales to 11,044, accounting for an increase of 23 percent versus the same period last year.
Celebrating its 40th Anniversary in the United States in 2010, Mazda North American Operations is headquartered in Irvine, Calif. and oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States, Canada and Mexico through nearly 900 dealers. Operations in Canada are managed by Mazda Canada, Inc., located in Ontario; and in Mexico by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City.

Not surprised at the Forester. My girlfriend just got one, my other friend that is a girl just got one, they're popping up everywhere, people really seem to love them.
We got ours in the Summer of 2008, and I'm not surprised at all that sales keep growing.

It's my wife's car and she loves it. She tells everybody.

What's impressive is that last year was a record year and they keep growing. It hasn't even had it's mid-model makeover yet (MY2011), which is due very soon.

It should get similar upgrades to the 2011 Impreza - Tom Tom dock option for low-cost Navi, rear backup cam in the rearview mirror, etc.

Buy Subaru stock.

LOLWUT? Hyundai, Kia and Subaru all had good sales years last year, so an 18% gain for them is actually a bigger deal than gains at other automakers.
Looking back, Hyundai was up 12% and Kia 13% last year June from the previous year. So good point...Hyundai and Kia might be the only ones with gains the last 3 Junes. So seems Kia, Hyundai, Subie might be the oddballs here which is a very good thing for sales. Seems I was wrong. :)

See that is why its great to compile, we can go back and look. :)

Mitsu and Suzuki are in serious jeopardy. They're losing sales from a dismal 2009!

JAUN announces large increase in hours due to robust gains in auto sales.

Weekly hours in June followed the substantial increases seen in May and were up a shocking 60% to 68. Income followed accordingly as did cash reserves due to lack of available drinking time. Days off were expected to continue falling, reaching Zero by the end of July and remaining there with no end in sight. Vacation time was considered "out of the question" as the CEO announced the largest number of booked orders in the history of the company. Personal savings were expected to increase monthly, but the gains will be moderated due to the cost of quality working girls which will be employeed to offset the fact that there's NO ****ing chance of me getting laid for free with this kind of workload.
FML. :(

Seriously, what's going on right now is absolutely crazy. The entire industry was sitting on every non-essential project they had, and they put them all out for quote at the beginning of the year. There aren't enough machine builders and integrators out there right now to fill the demand. Everyone is scrambling to increase production capacity.

(And it may sound like I'm bitching, but I'm really not. This is a hell of a lot better than sitting around the office trying to look busy all day)

Weren't you concerned about lay-offs back in the fall, too?

That's fantastic.

Golf sales are actually up 187%, Passat is up (but it doesn't actually matter) and Jetta is down for the first time in a while. But as we all know the Jetta isn't a new car at this point, it's sales resurgence (TDI powered) was pretty impressive during the last few years.

Overall sales compared to June 2009.
