so when i first moved here my conversation with the lady at the bmv went something like this...
"plate fee is $50"
"wow only $50??? so how much more for personalized?"
"$80"
"$80 more?"
"no, $80 total"
and considering in Cali i was paying around $100 and change for my basic plates i opted for the personalized and pretty much every vehicle since got a set....
here's a sample of my collection:
the left row down:
1) an old family plate. apparently my grandparents were some of the first to get personalized plates in ohio...however at the time you weren't allowed to get the letter O or the number 0 so he went with the letter "Q" for his last name, his age, and then the letter of his first name
2)mit lieber is German for "with love" a car i built for my mom to drive, hence the plate
3) shouldn't really need explaining
4) this i had on my 98 VR cabrio. NO BS ABA yes, i totally got that past the censors
the right row down:
1)winter beater
2)steaksauce because i love A1 volkswagens
3) got the plate so much they had to do a re-issue to me, hence the "re" in the upper right hand corner
4) shouldn't really need to explain that one
i've had way more than that but i've given away a lot of my personalized plates over the years as i've turned off and on certain plates....i think i have like four sets of the stk saus ones now
