Resonator Delete?

Any sound increase with replacing the resonator with just piping? I would like a little more sound out of my magnaflow muffer without changing the whole system.

Is it illegal at all to remove? Will any shop just cut it out and weld in a new piece of pipe?

The resonator on the Mk3s is typically a huge silver muffler in front of the gas tank. Nicknamed the 'suitcase muffler' because it quite literally looks like a suitcase. And yes, sound will be better, at least I know it does wonders for a VR6.

Thanks! Exactly what I wanted to hear....Any idea on how much a shop would charge? The shop I took mine to to get my muffler installed and welded up only charged me $89

Since I haven't done it myself and haven't shopped around I'm not entirely sure on the cost, but honestly, it cant be much. All that's done is that resonator is cut off then a straight pipe put in it's place. At any rate it will be much much cheaper than getting a full exhaust system done! Myself, I'm just going to have my whole exhaust straight piped except for that little muffler at the very back...

Well, it's dark out but I went underneath my car to see where exactly the suitcase was and I honestly couldn't find it.
All the piping that I saw looked really old though and stock.

Here is a pic of where I thought the suitcase should have been. This is right behind the gas tank...and yes! that is water on those pipes and gas tank....I wanted to make sure nothing was still hot while I snapped a couple pictures, so I sprayed a little on there first to see if it was hot.

I think I am confused...The suitcase thing that everyone is talking about...is that the Muffler or the Resonator? Because I am seeing people saying they did a suitcase and resonator delete....So is the Resonator different from the suitcase looking thing?

buy vr6
TT high flow cat, 2.5 in. piping to a borla muffler

now thats umph

or go autotech to mag

I personally love the sound of magnaflow paired with a vr6 youtube it.

basically you have a 2.0, the only way you can get it louder is to just straight pipe it
