So i recently bought this car( this is my first car I'm 16) and have put up a couple posts for help but have yet to show my car.
It is a 1998 Jetta GLX :) with 112000 miles on it. I did not know why so many people obsess over these cars....... Now i know why!

Question: what are the side skirts on the bottom for? is there a reason they are there? if not im taking them off!:laugh:

i dont like my grille haha. I love how it looks without the skirts but ill take them off and see. if i do i might sell them :D. Im with you guys on the tranny, i was thinking the other day about getting manual. how much would it cost?

I don't like the side skirts either. When I pulled the skirts off my glx there was some nasty rust hiding underneath so I put them back on. They are very easy to get off so I'd take them off and see what is underneath. They are a pain in the balls to get back on.

The skirts are there to visually connect he black front lip and lower rear rear valence. Black on white contrast = best color combo ever. :thumbup:

Chrome, on anything other than Peterbuilt or a '55 Oldsmobile, and especially on a MKIII VW (other than wheels), is the single tackiest modification I could think of, other than F&F body kits. :thumbdown:

Super clean car, I love these cars in white! :thumbup:

I completely agree with all of you and the grill, i was thinkin a custom paint on a new grill with the vr6 on it :D

About the tranny it is actually new. if i bought it before he replaced it to an auto one i would have done 5 speed but i guess selling it is one option. the only problem is i do not have time to get it out and all that because of dang high school. how much do you think i could get off of it and how much does a 5 speed cost?

(i really want a turbo but they are a little expensive)
