Ever thought maybe if you press on the pedal hard enough, and if the road is slick enough, your tires might spin enough, to make your DSC light flash enough?

Possible bad wheel speed sensor

Have you scanned for any codes? The light is going to come on when the controller detects one or more wheels spinning significantly faster (or slower) than another. You may have a wheel speed sensor going bad.

because im driving a 1.8t and ovbiously has something to do motor trans related...
has nothing to do with engine its chassis related, ie from above poster wheel sensor possibly.
This thread is for engine related questions and technical help.
Pretend you took the engine out of your car and had problems with it running, then post here.

That happened to me recently and it was the cable that go to the front left abs sensor was touching the wheel. It wear out and the wires inside was touching either the wheel or between each other so the traction control light came on at cruising or very light loads.

Check that.

your traction control light will blink when you tires slip, doesn't really matter 4th gear at 2k rpms is going roughly 40+ mph? not to sound like a dick either but you should have noticed when the light came on that the handling went away for a moment? your car is most likely equipped with ESP (electronic slip protection) and its being used! one wheel loses traction so it transfers power to the other, and in the process it makes a little light blink so you're aware of it!

nothing to worry about, drive on

if you can access vagcom and scan the car for any codes,
i can tell with you 99% certainty, your ASR light won't flash if your clutch slips,
it is possible that wheel speed sensors are intermittently not working

if the tires rubbed through the wires then you can repair the wires your self ( cut, splice, resolder)

But if its the wheel speed sensors, i paid 25 dollars a piece for them . All they are are magnets and sometimes crap gets in front of them and causes this to happen.

you should get the exact trouble code, so you know where to start. i highly suggest getting VAG COM, every VW owner needs one.

When i got my car oil sprayed for the winter, first i got ASR lights flashing, then that went away
now i got this trouble code
1 Fault Found:

00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Rear Right (G44)

012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent

me and a friend took it apart, and cleaned the abs sensor with brake cleaner, and fault code went away.
