Hey, guys. I live in Homer, about 30 miles north of Athens. I'm looking for a good alignment shop in the area for my mkv gti. I lowered my car a couple years ago and never got around to aligning the damn thing. Tired of eating tires and have a new set on the way.

Any suggestions? Thanks! Mike
Check with our member and good friend Stephen who works at Tires Plus in Athens. He will get you a good deal and do one of the best alignments you have ever had.
His location is on Epps Bridge near the Home Depot and across from the Wal Mart.
His screen name is madman_sle so IM him for info.

Where's the pictures??? I need some... since I pulled a dumb blonde move and brought the camera with no frikkin' memory card!!
I agree. POST THE PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please.

Sorry I had to leave early yesterday.
Had to get home to watch the Steelers. First half was a bummer, but the second made up for it.
Final: Steelers won 31-24

Michelle is in charge of next month's GTG. She will post all the info soon.

Page 45 is mine!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok folks, here are the pics. Sadly, there was one picture glitch. :( The group shot in Taco Mac - my camera had an error .... so it only came out with part of the picture. Sorry guys, it's an old camera with old technology and sometimes it fails. Kinda wish I had taken more than one shot.

This is where Matt realizes his 2.Sl0w is no match for a Pink Beetle and trades his Golf in for this HAWT ride ;)

Well...not sure if I mentioned earlier... tried to put snow tires on last week....rear wheel is STUCK. Still have yet to do anything with it. Rubber hammer didn't work (after 45 mins of pounding), kicking it didn't work....any ideas?

Oh, and the steelies I was gonna get!...sold out from under me. A$$turd!

Anywho...that's it. Working a little extra this week (yay sorta...) that's all for now

Clean as much of the exposed hub as you can with sandpaper or emory cloth. Spray some kind of penetrating oil like WD40 or PB Blaster between the wheel and the hub. Keep trying the rubber mallet, try hitting it in different locations from different angles.

Worse comes to worse, you can heat the wheel with a torch and it will expand the metal enough to get it loose. Probably bad for the finish on the wheel though.

Good luck with it.

Yeah we tried like bolt buster stuff. didn't work. tried prying with a screw driver... :(

I really think the car was in a rear end collision because that hub has always been tight, but I've never had a wheel get stuck like this. So I don't know. It's the refinished wheel too. So I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that they painted over the hub centric ring as well. That wheel is full of fail. :( Once I get paid, and once that wheel comes off, I'm getting it redone. I'm tired of looking at it and I'm tired of dealing with it. It's just a bunch of fail.

The thing about penetrating spray is you have to give it time to soak in. Letting it sit overnight helps a lot. Putting a dab of anti-sieze or vaseline on there will help it when you take it apart next time.

I had the same problem with some powdercoated wheels. The powdercoat was a bit thick in the centering hole on the wheel and it made it a really tight fit. A little sanding on the register of the hub and it worked out.

I don't think a collision would have effected the way the wheel fits on the hub. It would affect your alignment by bending the suspension or chassis before that.

going to have a meet here in augusta ga if you guys would like to come down on the 29th check the thread south east euro meet.
Dunno yet. I know now that time off won't be an issue. Lost my job on Friday and I've actually been in a pretty good mood ever since. Just gotta find something else to pay the bills.

I was planning on going to WinterJAM in Daytona Beach, FL, but no job means no money so I may have to pass.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend too!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok guys, next GtG is

February 19th.

This is a combined gtg between vortex and newbeetle.org. So, it's gonna be huge! :)

We're having a house warming party for Steve and Tamika!

We'll say start time is about 10am. If you can be there that early, great, if not, don't worry about it. It's going to be an all day kinda thing (like most of our gtg's are anyway).

All I ask is that you bring either food or drink to pass. This GtG is gonna be pretty big and we want to make sure that everyone has something to eat, or maybe we'll have to rent Buffalo's out for the day or something lol Anyway,

February 19th, starting at 10am
Steve & Tamika's house
Dacula, GA

If you need their address, send me a message and I'll give it to you. I don't want to post it on the interwebs for the world to see. So, send me a message and I'll let you know the exact address.

It's gonna be FUN!!!

If She'd bring it over I'd have it off already....:p

Yeah, yeah! I got no need to take it off now, other than to rotate it. Stupid wheels in the rear are vibrating anyway. Thinking I might need rear wheel bearings. Not to mention my CEL came on last night. I swear, I think this car is trying to drive me insane. I can't keep up!!

Gonna add to this a lil. We obviously aren't getting together for the food, we're here for the cars and the friends, etc. The food is just the added bonus.

We're thinking, everyone bring a dish to pass. Doesn't have to be anything real extravagent... this gtg is more about the people than the food. Steve and I are going to be making BBQ pulled pork and "Steve Taters" Trust me, you'll love them. It's rare to find someone who doesn't. lol

We're kinda torn on having someone provide drinks... or having it be a BYOB so everyone has what they like. What do ya'll think? We'll have the fridge and a big cooler in the garage to keep some if not all that needs to be kept cold. Might be best for everyone to bring their own, so that way they know they will like what there is to drink. But if the majority is cool with a few 2 liters or 12 packs or whatever, someone can bring that in place of food as well.

Plus I was thinking, either post it here, or PM me if you want, what you'd be bringing. So we don't have 70% of the people bringing the same thing. lol

Oh, and who's bringing my bday cake?? lol jk

Reminder!!

This Saturday we are going to get together here in Augusta GA on the 29th from 4 till whenever. The address is 3830 Washington Road Martinez, GA 30907 K mart shopping center in the front by the wing stop. There is plenty of parking and places to eat after. See you guys ther

Okay. Been trying to keep this project secret to surprise everyone, but there's just so much win going on with it that I can't contain myself.

New badge-less grill came in a while back.

And so have "Volkswagen" badges themselves.
